Appa discusses a pride poster

The episode begins with Kevin and Roger, a gay couple, presenting their poster for pride week to Appa in hopes of getting it up on the window. Appa denies them, and Roger assumes that it was because they are gay. Appa explains that it is because parades are loud, and Roger calls him homophobic and threatens to report him. Appa panics and offers a 15% "gay discount" for pride month, but still refuses to put up the poster.

While the Kim family is getting ready for the day, Janet asks Appa if she can borrow the van, who leaves without answering. Umma asks Janet when she is going to church in the prospect of looking for a "cool Christian Korean boyfriend," which Janet denies the existence of. Umma reminds Janet that Jung is cool, Christian, and Korean which Janet rebuffs as he is her brother. Umma then reminds Janet that if she didn't meet Appa, she wouldn't have been born. Janet leaves for university.

Appa with Enrique

Enrique asks Appa if it is true that the store was having a 50% discount in an stereotypical imitation of a gay voice and stature. Unamused, Appa informs him that there is a 15% discount, and it is not for him. Enrique protests this, insisting that he is gay. Appa guarantees that he is 100% not gay, and Enrique informs him that it is not over.

Fellow businessman Mr. Chin tells Appa that business has never been better because of pride week. They observe that there are more outed gay people in today's age than back when they first immigrated to Canada, and that all the cross dressing and new sexualities are confusing. A customer asks Appa if it is true that there is a 15% discount, and Appa replies that it is, but only for gay individuals. Mr. Chin remarks that that is illegal because it's discriminatory. The customer asks when she is getting a discount, and Appa says February (black history month) as the customer is black. She protests that it is the shortest month of the year, and Mr. Chin says that it is longer during leap years so she should take full advantage.

Appa talks about Janet's taking over the store

When Umma and Janet are discussing the Korean boyfriend tryouts, Appa enters and tells Umma that Janet doesn't need a boyfriend because she will be busy taking over the store, which Umma protests because she says that Janet will be busy having many babies. Janet says she doesn't want to take over the store and she is not having many babies. She tells the two Korean males that the opening is now closed. Appa offers them a gay discount. One of them tell Appa that he is not gay, and Appa replies that sometimes, it takes time to be gay, and sips his tea knowingly.

While Appa is counting money from the register, Therese, a drag queen, asks Appa the price of an item. Appa asks Therese why she cross dresses, and she replies that it felt like her and like home, and Appa kisses her hand. Umma comes back from Handy (although she tells Appa that she came back from church) and Appa informs her that there is money missing. Janet comes back to the store with her new rental car. Appa asks her when she got the car suspiciously, and Janet tells him she got it when he didn't let her take the van. Appa asks her where she got the money for the rental, and Janet tells him that she got a discount from a friend. Appa asks which friend, and Janet hesitates, not wanting to reveal Jung because he is still at odds with Appa. Appa says that there is money missing from the store, insinuating that Janet stole some to get a rental car. Janet is offended at the accusation and storms off. Appa turns back to Therese, and finishes selling her items with the gay discount. Umma thwacks Appa, and tells him that the gay discount is the missing money, and tells him to apologize. Appa protests and Umma says that they were pushing her away like they pushed Jung away. Appa responds that they didn't wonder if he stole something, they knew he stole something, and Umma screams in frustration.

Appa and Umma apologize to Janet

Umma and Appa knock on Janet's door to apologize, and she says that she isn't Jung, and she didn't steal anything but is the one being punished. Appa says that he isn't punishing her, just talking, and Janet says that he is talking to the wrong person, and grabs the rental car keys. Umma says that she is sorry and who Janet hooks around with is up to her. Janet thanks Umma and hands the car keys to Appa, saying that returning the car is how he can apologize. When he leaves, Janet tells Umma that she sent Appa to return the car so he would have to talk to Jung.

Shannon is on the phone, trying to upgrade her from call to unlimited texting in North America. Jung sees Appa standing at the front desk during his coffee break, and asks Shannon to deal with him. Shannon hands her the phone, and Jung takes over trying to get her cellphone plan upgraded. Shannon tells Appa about her uncle who disappeared to Mexico, and how family is tricky. Appa returns the car keys, and spots Jung on one of the Handy posters.

Umma and Janet ask Appa if he saw anyone important, and Appa replies with Shannon. Umma and Janet turn away, disappointed. The door opens and another young Asian male steps through. Appa stops him and tells him that even if he is cool, Christian, and Korean, Janet has to like him. Janet ignores Appa and discusses dinner plans with the man, and they leave to go on a date. Appa stops them and asks Janet's date what the Korean day of independence is, and lets them go when he replies with the correct answer. Outside the store, Janet says that she told him that Appa would ask.

Appa holds up his photo

As Appa finishes up with a customer, Gerald and Semira enter the store to work on a mid-term photography project with Janet. Appa stops them and asks what they think of a picture he took. Semira says that it's nice, and Gerald adds hesitantly that it is professional. Appa asks how much they think he can get from it, and Gerald says maybe more than 20, and Semira says maybe less. Appa, offended, asks to see Semira's pictures. The pictures are shots of naked individuals, and Appa comments that they are all born naked and they all die naked. Semira suggests that if he likes hers, he should check out Gerald's. He flips through Gerald's photos, which are all of himself, in suggestive poses. Gerald says that he couldn't find a model, and Appa says that he should find one, and pants.

Appa critiques Janet's photo

Umma and Janet are looking through Janet's photos, which she has received a top mark in class for. Umma calls Appa over to take a look, and Appa tells Janet to celebrate by taking out the garbage. Janet moves to put away the photos, but Umma puts them back, beckoning Appa to come see them again. Appa takes a look at them disapprovingly: there are pictures of old shoes, and a telephone pole. Appa tells here that people like looking at pictures of nice things, and shows her his own cherry tree photo as an example. Janet says that it's very centered, and Appa is offended, saying that Janet thinks her work is better than his. Umma says yes, it's much better, and Appa says art school is a scam, because in real world people like to see beautiful things. Janet leaves to take out the garbage, and Appa tells her to take out the garbage, not to take pictures of garbage. Umma places Janet's photo on the shelf, and when she leaves Appa replaces it with his own photo.

Appa is writing labels for his photos when a customer comes in. He pretends to be on his phone talking to a prospect buyer for his photos when the phone rings. Appa answers the phone and pretends that Jeanne Beker is on the other line but it is just a male customer asking for the store's hours. Appa hastily hangs up and asks the customer at the check out if he wants to buy a picture. The customer says no and leaves. Another customer comes to check out and Appa asks if she wants to buy the photos. She says no, but asks about Janet's photo on the shelf, and offers 45 dollars for it which Appa agrees to.

Mr. Chin is talking to Appa about his dog Ginger. Appa says that Mr. Chin is missing the point and that Janet is ungrateful in a different way than Ginger. Mr. Chin says that Janet isn't ungrateful, she is just mad. Appa says that Janet is lucky to have him as her father. Mr. Chin says that Appa is jealous of Janet because she takes better photos than her. Appa denies this and tells him that this is why Ginger peed in his slippers.

Appa tells Janet to call the police

A customer asks Appa, who is looking out the shop window, for a scratch and win. Appa asks the man if the car outside is his, and the customer asks which one, and Appa says the red Toyota outside in the no-parking zone. The customer says that he doesn't own a car, and Appa asks why he asks which one if he didn't own a car. The customer shrugs and takes his scratch and win. Appa tells Janet to tell the police because a car is out front, and Janet asks if it's a Honda or a Mitsubishi, both Japanese car brands. Appa says no to both, but Janet gives him a stern look, and he admits that it's a Toyota (which is also a Japanese car). Janet reminds Appa that Japanese people aren't the only ones driving Japanese cars. Appa states that in 1910, Japan attacked Korea, and that by buying Japanese products, one is guilty by association. Janet asks Appa about his Canon SLR camera, which is Japanese. Appa says that he got it for half price, which meant he ripped off Japan, and tells Janet to call the police again. Janet asks him why he can't call them himself, and Appa says that if the police hear the accent, they won't take him seriously. Janet protests this, and Appa restates more loudly that in 1910, Japan attacked Korea. Janet relents and picks up the phone, and Appa tells her to cancel because it's a Hyundai, a car from a South Korean company.

Gerald and Appa

Gerald comes to the store and Appa dismisses him, telling him that Janet isn't here at the moment. Gerald tells him that he has a very interesting face, and that he's actually here to take a photo of Appa. Appa is suspicious, saying that he has seen Gerald's pictures before, and that they were photos of naked subjects. Gerald tries to tell him that that was just for one assignment, and Appa insists that he would never do a naked photo. Gerald assures him that it would only be from the neck up, and Appa says that Gerald will try to seduce him to take off his clothes to sell to a pornography magazine, Appa tells Gerald that magazine like naked everything, and that once he saw one full of feet pictures, and tells Gerald to get out. Gerald leaves gladly.

Appa takes Gerald's iPad

Appa is ordering 12 cartons of eggs on the phone when Gerald comes back into the store, looking for Umma. Appa tells him that she is definitely not interested in posing for his "naked picture" and Gerald tells him that he already took a photo of her and would like to show her. Appa snatches his phone to look for the photos of Umma, thinking that they are naked pictures. Appa is surprised, as the photo of Umma is a nice one. Appa then tells Gerald that he accepts his previous offer and now wants him to take a photo of him. Gerald tells him that it's okay, and he already completed his assignment. Janet comes in and sees the photo of Umma. Gerald suggests that Janet can take a photo for him instead but Appa blows her off. Appa offers to commission Gerald with a small bag of chips for the rest of his life. Appa leaves to practice his face exercises.

Janet is looking at the photo Gerald took of Umma, and says that it would be perfect for her "don't touch" wall. Appa says that the "don't touch" wall is too full, and takes a photo of Umma that Janet took off. He hangs up the new photo, and says that it would be the best funeral photo, and makes a comment about Mr. Chang's funeral photo which was taken from a roller-coaster ride at Canada's Wonderland. Appa and Umma continue to praise Gerald's photo, and Janet walks away with her photo.

He says there is no chocolate milk and that he is sorry, and Mary says he doesn't look sorry, he looks uncomfortable, and leaves.Appa sighs and tells Gerald to not use that photo. Gerald suggests that maybe they should do this another day, and that he gets nervous around Appa. Appa says that Gerald should take a "sneak attack photo" (a candid shot).

Appa is back at the store, again creeping out the customers with his fake smile to look good for the candid shot. A dad and his son leave the shop. Appa yells at Gerald to take a time out. and Janet comes back to the store, asking Appa what he's yelling about. Janet says that Gerald is at school, and that she was just with him.
