Kevin and Roger[]

Kevin and Roger are two gay men who came to Kim's Convenience to ask Appa hang up a poster for a parade week they were participating for pride month. Appa denies them, and Roger assumes that it was because they are gay. Appa explains that it is because parades are loud, and Roger calls him homophobic and threatens to report him. Appa panics and offers a 15% "gay discount" for pride month, but still refuses to put up the poster.

Therese[]

While Appa is counting money from the register, Therese, a drag queen, asks Appa the price of an item. Appa asks Therese why she cross dresses, and she replies that it felt like her and like home, and Appa kisses her hand. The Kim's get into an argument about money, ending with Janet storming off. Appa apologizes to Therese, and finishes selling her items with the gay discount. She waves him off, saying that family is family, and leaves the store.

Trish and Trish's Daughter[]

Mrs. Lee congratulates Umma on Jung's new promotion, and Mrs. Park says that Umma must finally be so proud of him for once. Umma says that he may one day become Vice President of a big automotive company. Trish says that is impressive, and Umma shows her a photo of Jung, which Trish compliments him as handsome. Trish suggestively points out to her daughter that he is single, and she rolls her eyes, asking her mom to stop trying to set her up.

Mary[]

Mary is first seen at Toronto Korean East-West Presbyterian Church sorting clothes with the other church ladies.

In: Ddong Chim

Appa is posing for photos, smiling manically at Gerald. Gerald tells him to just relax and pretend he isn't here. Appa decides to get some action shots when Mary, a customer comes in to get chocolate milk. Appa continues acting maniacal for Gerald and hands Mary whipping cream instead. He says there is no chocolate milk and that he is sorry, and Mary says he doesn't look sorry, he looks uncomfortable, and leaves.

Esi[]

First Appearance: "Ddong Chim"


While Kimchee and Jung are arguing over the ddong chim incident, Terence and Esi walk in. Kimchee raises his voice, pretending to be intimidated, asking Jung to not ddong chim him again. Jung turns to tell Terence and Esi that Kimchee wasn't really being serious, and it was just for fun.

Shannon has gathered the Handy employees for the meeting about harassment. Terence asks what it's about, and Shannon says that two of the Handy workers are having an argument. Terence says that he thought it was a lover's quarrel, and Jung affirms that he and Kimchee are not a couple, and that it was just a ddong chim. Shannon says that this is an opportunity to be more inclusive about each other's cultures, and states that when she was younger, her family used to pass oranges around the room with only their necks. Esi asks why Shannon is looking at her, and she says that there are only 5 people in the room, and that she needs to look at someone. Shannon restates that they need to respect each other racially and sexually, and tells Jung and Kimchee to just make amends with each other. Jung says that he's sorry, and Kimchee beings to thank him. Jung interrupts, and says that he is apologizing to everyone else in the room, not Kimchee. Esi suggests that they should just break up. Jung says they're not a couple, and Shannon says that maybe as friends, they should find some common ground. Kimchee says thay're not friends. Shannon calls a break and everyone leaves.
